Season 2. Pre-Season and transfers recap.

Image
Following the success of our first season and the challenge of the Europa League on its way to Sellhurst Park,  we face the difficult task of upgrading the squad.  We also had to remove some dead wood and them 30 year olds.  The transfers. As previously mentioned we activated the loan clause for Archie Gray from Leeds for 23m as soon as the season ended. Which did leave our midfield bloated. So I was looking to move on Jefferson Lerma and or will Hughes. As it happend Leeds just had some money and went in for Lerma for 18m. I smashed accept on that bad boy and essentially I've got Archie Gray for 5m.  So other than that the transfers look quiet with us only bringing Emre Tezgel in straight away.  However the future transfers I've made look exceptional. I think these boys have next level potential. Not to mention I've got Moscardo and Gonzalez arriving in January.  Now I've been tracking Bastien Meupiyou, Vrbancic, and Kroupi since la...

Part 4 - The Run In

Image
Let's get the end of season one wrapped up.  So the Aston Villa & Liverpool sandwich didn't go to plan. With losses to Liverpool in the league and FA Cup after a lucky draw against villa. We closed out march with our only win against Chelsea.  April. After the last run of form I knew I needed to do a tweak, so we swapped a player role or two first off changing one of the AMC to a AP to help us hold the ball a bit more as our possession stats had dropped. Also the DMC to an anchor man, the data hub suggested we were getting hit on counters and the centre backs were making alot of tackles. The thought behind the change is that the anchor man will be an extra layer of support and allow the wing backs and Segundo's to get back to help out defensively.  First up was was Arsenal who were battling for the Champions League, if I'm honest I was expecting to get battered but to my delight we ended up pinching a win even though the stats suggested Arsenal were the better team....

Part 3

We wrapped up January with a midweek game against Everton who I'm still annoyed with from the injured goalkeeper loss earlier in the season. I am pleased to report that the boys didn't let me down.  Whilst we dominated them in all of the stats we made hard work of it and it took us till the 53rd minute for Eze to put us in the lead. Lerma then smashed in the second with twenty minutes left before Eze got the third and final goal through a penalty. Which went to VAR and the media are saying is dubious. That was the icing on the cake.  Also I want to point out that Olise is really starting to grow into that AMC role and had 6 key passes in the match.  February; This was a frustrating month and saw us lose our unbeaten record. What's worse it was against Nottingham Forest. Not only did they take there chances after allowing us 65% possession. It also saw us lose our new starting right back Marshal-Rutty for several months absolutely gutted. Our best player again ...

Part 2

We have now played some serious games and completed the January window. Which had some drama,  and sadly we did not manage to escape without losing a key man.. but thats for later.  The Games; Picking up where we left off  in September. Our next game was a tricky away fixture against West Ham which actually turned out to be an easy 2-0 win as we were in control the whole game. Only Kudus hitting the post late on being the Hammers only real effort.  We then rolled onto to Bournemouth who scored a Solanke penalty early on before we grabbed a much deserved 90th minute equaliser with Rak-Saki coming off the bench to grab it. Then we heavily rotated for the cup game against Mansfield. Easy peasy. We are flying.  October. Was another great month picking up 3 out of 4 wins in the league. The only loss game was at Everton when I didn't put a GK On the bench.. Of course in classic FM fashion, Henderson got injured in the 76th minute. So I chucked in Jaïro Rie...

Crystal Palace Youth to Gold save.  I always end up signing loads and loads of wonderkids and play my youth anyway. So I thought this challenge would be a welcomed twist to a normal file.  The aim is to achieve European dominance whilst sticking to the challenge rules.  The rules.  Do not sign any players 20 or older in any capacity.  Only sign players 19 years of age or younger, at the time of confirming the deal. If they turn 20 after the transfer is agreed and completed then it still counts. Do not play players aged 30 or over.  Why Palace?  The average age of the squad is 23. It has a core of 4 players all under the age of 24 with a couple more mid twenties.  Eze Olise Ghuei Doucoure then Anderson and Henderson are good enough to build a team around.  The board's philosophy is to sign young players to sell for a profit and then sign players under the age of 23 for the first team. As well as wanting you to sign under 21s and develop...
